Controversial comic book Saltire out in time for independence vote

The Dundee creator of a Scottish comic book has caused controversy as he launched a sequel in Glasgow at the weekend just in time for the referendum.
Following on from last year’s graphic novel, Saltire: Invasion, Saltire: Annihilation Pt 1 was unveiled at comic convention MCM SECC Expo on Saturday.
The big, blue, ginger protagonist is back but coming so close to the referendum this sequel is causing much debate.
Saltire: Invasion was nominated for Best British Comic at the True Believers Awards in London this summer.
Creator John Ferguson said: “Like the first book, it is set in a pseudo history of the country but this time it’s more immersive, more involved.
“Annihilation is set a few hundred years after Invasion and it’s darker, more sinister, with a wider scope and a more expansive story. It also uses many of the old myths and legends of the country to expand the Saltire Universe.”
He said that despite some negative comments, the Saltire series is going to run for several years.
