Perth residents are being urged to play a role in Cancer Research UK’s Relay For Life, which will take place in the city for the first time in June 2015.
It is hoped the two-day event will bring hundreds of supporters to the North Inch to raise funds for the charity and its work.
A huge amount of organisation will go into ensuring the relay is a success and volunteers are being sought to fill two important roles.
Volunteer event leader Scott Jewell is seeking a creative individual to promote and co-ordinate cancer awareness activities in the lead-up to the relay and during the event itself.
In addition, a “committed and compassionate individual” is being sought to coordinate the Candle of Hope Ceremony.
This will take place at dusk and is dedicated to those who have experienced or are going through cancer and in remembrance of those whose lives have been taken by the illness.
Teams are also being invited to get in touch and register their interest in participating.
Organisers hope it will prove to be “a unique celebration of life and hope”, with a family and team event planned to bring the two days to a fantastic close.
