Dundee United defender Conor Townsend out for month
ByIan Roache
Dundee United have suffered a serious injury blow with the news that left-back Conor Townsend will be sidelined for a month.
The 21-year-old loan signing from Hull City has made a fine start to his time at Tannadice and will be sorely missed during a hectic spell that includes two Dundee derbies.
Manager Jackie McNamara will have to shuffle his defensive pack around, although there was the welcome news that Sean Dillon is on the verge of a return after fracturing his cheekbone.
Both he and Stuart Armstrong are in contention for Saturday’s home clash with high-flying Hamilton Accies.
United boss Jackie McNamara confirmed: “We are going to lose Conor for a month.
“It’s an old injury to his foot and he has felt it for a good few weeks now.
“He has actually had a pin in his foot since last January when he was at Carlisle.
“He irritated it in the last game so will be out for a month anyway.”
