Residents in Mill o’ Mains have vowed to fight on to save their axed number 36 bus service.
The residents started a petition with the aim of persuading National Express Dundee to reverse their decision to all but remove the hourly service from October 20.
Managing director Phil Smith faced the residents at a meeting on Tuesday night, along with the city council’s sustainable transport team leader John Berry however neither could offer any glimmer of hope.
Mr Smith said the route was “not commercially viable”, while Mr Berry confirmed the city council did not have the funds to subsidise the current timetable.
Jim Malone, chairman of the Mill o’ Mains Tenants’ and Residents’ Association (MOMTRA) said the 70 or so residents at the meeting had voted unanimously to campaign for the retention and eventual improvement of the 36 service.
He said: “We have started a petition and will be seeking cross-party support from councillors, MSPs and MPs.
“We will make representations to National Express and Dundee City Council in our fight for a bus service that serves the needs of our communities.”
