The painted slogan in Burntisland.
A resident of Burntisland says she felt “intimidated and threatened” by the appearance of a Yes Scotland slogan on a public wall in the Fife town.
The woman, who asked not to be named, said she was concerned that the spray-painted ‘Yes’ slogan on the wall next to common land on The Links in Burntisland had not been removed despite being there for days.
She said: “This is sheer vandalism and is intimidating No voters ahead of the referendum.”
The woman said she had tried to report the matter to Fife Council but had been unsuccessful because, she said, she was not willing to leave her name.
Angus Thomson, senior manager with Fife Council, said: “We were not aware of the spray painting … but are now. We will attend to this as soon as possible.”
A Police Scotland spokesman said the they had no record of the matter being reported.
Yes Scotland has distanced itself from any form of vandalism in the run-up to the referendum.
