But these were soon dismissed by both sides. A petition calling for a recount of ballots in the independence referendum has collected almost 50,000 signatures. Kirstie Keatings, from Rosyth, started the petition after images and video appeared online claiming to show rigging of the ballots. Some of the allegations concern the count in Dundee and have already been dismissed by the local Yes Dundee group. Nevertheless, Kirstie said: “We want answers, and from the comments on the petition, I’m not the only one.” Other protesters say they plan to demonstrate outside the Caird Hall on Saturday and Sunday. SNP councillor and Yes campaigner Jimmy Black said: “I don’t believe that electoral fraud occurred in Dundee. “If anyone does have any evidence of it occurring, I want to see it. “But I have a great deal of faith in the officers of Dundee City Council and I don’t believe anything untoward happened here.”
