Shocked parents called in police after a bag containing drugs was found next to a Perthshire school.
The herbal cannabis, along with a quantity of cash, was discovered by children in Pitlochry.
It is understood they took the bag home, where their parents took custody of the items until officers were able to pick them up.
The drugs, which were discovered on September 5, are to be destroyed by Police Scotland.
It is understood that the family do not wish to be identified.
Andrew Holmes, chairman of Pitlochry and Moulin Community Council, said the discovery had been raised at a recent meeting.
“One of the reasons it was raised from the floor was because of the distress the family was in between finding these and the police coming to take them away,” he said.
A police spokeswoman said they had taken possession of the illicit substance.
“Police can confirm that a carrier bag containing herbal cannabis and a quantity of cash was found in playing fields at the school in Pitlochry on September 5,” she said.
“Inquiries are being carried out at this time.”
