Fife artist Kirsty Lorenz has been invited by Fife Contemporary Art & Craft to show an exhibition of new paintings in the foyer of St Andrews Town Hall.
The pieces are the result of a research trip to the Outer Hebrides in August last year, funded with support from a Fife Opportunities Grant.
The purpose was to see the prolific wild flowers growing on the Machair areas on the islands of North Uist, Benbecula and South Uist.
Kirsty gathered material and inspiration for creating a new body of work in the form of photographs, sketches and small videos.
These have been the starting point for the mixed-media works and oil paintings on display in St Andrews until October 7.
One response to the abundance of wild flowers was to create lots of small posies in different locations and photograph them.
The exhibition also features a small selection of items printed by Ruth Morris of Roobedo, a long-time friend and fellow artist of Kirsty’s. As Ruth works largely with Harris tweed, it was decided to use Kirsty’s paintings in combination with Harris tweed to create a small amount of cushions and notebooks.
