Montrose boss George Shields is looking for his players to make it three victories in a row this afternoon and to ratchet up the pressure on league leaders Arbroath.

The Links Park outfit got back to winning ways last weekend at Elgin and then followed that up with another triumph on the road against Barry Ferguson’s Clyde.

Now, they are looking for some home comfort against a resurgent East Fife side with Shields also revealing that his players are ahead of schedule in terms of the points target he has set them.

The manager said: “I was really pleased with the wins on Saturday and Tuesday night and was delighted to take maximum points.

“The boys played really well and it is good to get a bit of momentum going again.

“It was important to get back to winning ways after the defeats to Albion Rovers and Arbroath.

“Importantly, we managed to keep 11 players on the pitch against Clyde and Elgin.

“We will look to keep things going against East Fife but we know we are in for a tough game.

“They didn’t start the season very well but I always thought they would come good.

“They are rightly one of the favourites to win the league having come down last season.

“However, we are only three points behind Arbroath at the top of the table and we will be looking for a victory to keep the pressure on them.

“I have also targeted 15 points from the opening nine games and we are well on course to achieve that.”

Montrose will be without Paul Harkins and Danny Cavanagh who are both suffering from ankle knocks.
