A Glenrothes head teacher has made a heartfelt appeal to vandals to stop targeting her school.
Aileen McGowan, the head of Pitcoudie Primary, said a recent spate of attacks against school property has been “upsetting” for pupils.
Broken windows and picnic tables have been reported, while a tin of paint has been used to stain the playground.
There has been a notable rise in the number of incidents since the summer, with local police officers searching for those responsible.
Mrs McGowan said the acts of vandalism have had a big impact on the children.
“It started during the summer holidays and has continued since we came back,” she said. “It’s the first time for many years that his sort of thing has happened and it is really upsetting for the children.
“The parent council bought us picnic tables after raising money for them and these have been damaged.
“We’ve also had masonry paint thrown from the roof of the school on to the quad below, where the P1s play.”
Vandalism has plagued schools in Glenrothes in recent months, with youths targeting several buildings over the summer.
Both Warout Primary and St Paul’s Primary sustained thousands of pounds of damage after rampaging youths ran amok in August .
Anybody with information regarding the offences at Pitcoudie Primary School is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
