Dunfermline will be without Ryan Thomson until mid-November after he was ruled out for five weeks with a groin strain.
The 23-year-old suffered the damage in training last week and will miss upcoming clashes against Ayr, Forfar, Morton, East Stirling and Peterhead.
Thomson’s absence adds to an injury list that already includes first-team stars Ryan Wallace and Andy Geggan albeit the latter could be in contention for a return at Somerset Park on Friday.
Dunfermline boss Jim Jefferies said: “We have a strong squad and squads are there for things that happen injuries, suspensions.
“Shaun Byrne is looking like getting back to his best, Ross Forbes has always great experience and ability. We have always said that we want competition and depth in there.”
Meanwhile, Dunfermline will wear special shirts embroidered with a red poppy and adorned with the words Lest We Forget when they take on Morton at East End Park on October 25.
Only 32 of the shirts are being made, and after the game 30 of them will be signed by the players, management team and a selection of Pars legends before being auctioned off, with the proceeds going to the club’s selected charity, Poppyscotland.
One shirt will be kept by the club for historical purposes with the remaining jersey being the star prize in a raffle organised by the Pars’ Supporters Trust, with the profit from that handed over to the club.
