Two held after police chase through Dundee streets

Two men who allegedly fled a vehicle in Dundee after a police chase have been detained by officers.
Police officers pursued the occupants of a green Ford Focus after it failed to stop during a routine check in Kirkton on Sunday evening.
Police said the vehicle had been signalled to pull over on Haldane Crescent. However, the car continued, before its occupants abandoned the vehicle on Forres Crescent and ran off in an apparent escape bid.
Local woman Lesley Ann McGonnigle, 23, said the car stopped before two men got out and ran down a path at the side of her house, towards Caird Park.
She added: “As they did so, an unmarked police car arrived, followed by two more police cars.
“A policeman ran off down the path following the men.”
Another neighbour, who didn’t want to be named, witnessed the drama.
He said: “I counted six policemen and two police dogs. One policeman and one dog ran off down the lane following the men.”
A spokesman for Police Scotland Tayside Division confirmed that two people were detained following the incident.
Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101.
