A new website has been launched to help promote sport at Fife schools.

The online tool was revealed at an event for PE staff across the region at Auchmuty High School in Glenrothes.

Fifeschoolsport.org.uk will enable schools to find competitions, set up matches and track their progress.

The website will be a “one-stop shop” for sport in schools.

Active Schools coordinator and School Sport representative Alex Bird said: “The site will serve pupils, teachers and school communities and will be the place to visit for live match or game scores and reports.

“It will be a constantly evolving site to meet the needs of the people who use it. Pupils and school staff will be the ones providing the information to develop it further.”

Councillor Mark Hood said: “We’re grasping this opportunity (of the Olympics, Commonwealth Games and Ryder Cup) by providing a service which captures the enthusiasm of our young people and encourages healthy competitiveness.”
