Dundee’s talented teenager Craig Wighton has been urged to learn from Dens team-mate David Clarkson.
Wighton (17) is a rising star who will one day be the leading man in the Dark Blues’ attack.
While he moves towards achieving that goal, the Scotland under-19 striker has been told by manager Paul Hartley to watch and listen to Clarkson who, while still not a veteran at the age of 29, has been around the block a few times.
Hartley said: “Clarkie gives us a physical presence and is experienced, having been around the game for long enough now. He knows how to play his position.
“He is a good one for the younger players like Craig Wighton to learn from.
“I said that to young Craig the other day, that he should be watching how Clarkie moves and runs off the ball.”
Wighton scored in the development team’s match against Falkirk on Tuesday night, and set-up two others.
Clarkson looks odds-on to spearhead the attack against his former club Motherwell on Saturday at Fir Park.
Hartley added: “Clarkie played in a bounce game last week against St Johnstone just to give him another 90 minutes in which to improve his match sharpness.
“I think he is getting better and better and is someone who will improve our team.”
