Paul Watson netted an injury-time equaliser to earn Montrose a draw in their League Two encounter at Shielfield.
The visitors had trailed 2-0 after first half goals by Berwick’s Darren Lavery and Ross Gray.
But the Links Park outfit forced their way back into contention right on the stroke of half-time with a Leighton McIntosh goal.
Right at the death, in the 94th minute, Watson shot low past Michael Andrews to claim a point in a game re-arranged from Saturday due to Montrose’s Scottish Cup replay with Arbroath.
There was little between the sides in the early stages with a training ground corner routine seeing Montrose go close before Dean Hoskins fired wide from distance at the other end.
The breakthrough came after 13 minutes following a four-man Berwick move which ended with Lavery netting from close range. A minute later Lavery blasted a shot over.
Berwick extended their lead after 28 minutes when Paul Currie squared the ball to Gray, who shot low past Stuart McKenzie.
Montrose looked as if they were going to go in 2-0 down at the break but, on the stroke of half-time, McIntosh pounced on a poor passback and shot low past Andrews.
At the start of the second half David Gold headed on to the roof of the net for Berwick, while Andrews made a good save from Watson.
Lee Currie fired a free-kick wide and also shot past after a corner.
Substitute Paul Willis lifted the ball over the Montrose bar and Gold pulled a shot wide before Watson levelled.
