Forfar boss Dick Campbell feels his side deserve more credit for their superb start to the season after holding on to top spot last weekend.
The Loons recorded a 0-0 draw at second-placed Dunfermline and, although they had keeper Rab Douglas to thank for saving a late penalty, Campbell felt the scoreline did not tell the true story of a match he believes they should have won.
Having said that, the stalemate at East End Park now means that his men have gone on a seven game unbeaten run, and Campbell would love to see that extended to eight with victory over Stranraer at Station Park.
“Let’s be honest, we deserved to win the game and my goalie didn’t have a save to make apart from the penalty kick,” he said.
“It was always going to be a real tight game between two good teams in the first quarter of the season but I’ve no complaints whatsoever.
“Dunfermline have not lost a game at home all season, Dunfermline are a good side. But then again so are Forfar, and people should never forget that.
“Over the season we’ve proved we’re a good side, so let’s keep doing our talking on the pitch not off it.”
Campbell also believes the club has the correct blend of youth and experience to keep the positive run of results going.
“We’ve been criticised because we’re a team of veterans but I think that’s unfair,” he added.
“You only need to look at James Dale, Dale Hilson, Michael Dunlop they are all young guys so it’s a bit unfair to say that.”
Stranraer will head north in search of a second successive victory in Angus after they beat Brechin 2-1 last weekend, and will be looking to go one better than the 1-1 draw they had with the Loons at Stair Park on the opening day of the season.
Forfar are expected to be unchanged from last week, although there may well be a place on the bench for midfielder Andrew Steeves who returned to action in a Development League game in midweek.
