Council bosses face more Riverside Drive questions after it emerged fresh problems with the road surface have been identified even before the work has been completed.
Tayside Contracts, which has been carrying out the work on behalf of Dundee City Council, has listed issues that will need to be repaired.
Problems were found during an interim inspection of the carriageway surface after more than 12 weeks of work, and relate to a section of road between the Tesco roundabout and the Tay Bridge.
A spokesman for Tayside Contracts said: “Due to the flatness of the existing road and previous drainage issues in the area, the new road surface has been profiled to ensure positive drainage to the existing drainage channels on the south side.
“This means, as expected, there is a slow rise and fall effect on the surface.
“During my inspection, however, I noted a couple of transverse joints in the surfacing that are out of tolerance and these accentuate the effect.
“Repair works will be carried out to these joints in due course however, as we do in most cases with road surfacing works, we will leave the newly opened road in service for a period of time and monitor the performance of the whole surface before undertaking these identified repairs.”
Earlier this week Dundee City Council revealed that lane restrictions would continue until Friday, after it was originally believed the traffic management would be removed two weeks ago.
Drivers have already complained about the quality of the road surface to local councillor Fraser Macpherson.
He said: “I am anxious to see a full inspection of the road undertaken as soon as possible as I have had a number of constituents raise issues about it with me.
“I’m also anxious to see the remainder of the traffic management cones removed as soon as possible so the road can get back to a degree of normality.”
A spokesman for Tayside Contracts confirmed the changes would follow a standard inspection.
A Dundee City Council spokesman said: “The works are not fully complete and a full inspection is yet to take place.”
