Raith Rovers manager Grant Murray maintains he would take another seven-goal telly thriller with Queen of the South provided his team are on the right side this time.
When the clubs last met in the league, 10-man Queens snatched all three points from Stark’s Park deep into injury time of a game that had seen Rovers twice battle back from 2-0 and 3-2 down.
That provided plenty of entertainment for armchair fans watching at home on BBC Alba, and the Gaelic channel’s executives will be hoping for similar excitement in this evening’s clash with the game moved back to a 5.30pm kick-off to accommodate the cameras.
However the game pans out is neither here nor there for Murray, as long as his side are the ones celebrating this time around.
“I definitely would take the same scoreline again, as long as it was reversed,” he told Courier Sport.
“That first game at Stark’s Park was disappointing in the end for us.
“We found out how good a side Queens were in the first half and that certainly showed.
“We went 2-0 down and we showed a lot of character to get back level twice, but when we got it back for the second time I felt the minimum we should have taken was a point.
“So we’re looking forward to this game and hopefully setting the record straight.
“Over the years we’ve had some great results down there and we know it’s a difficult place to go.
“Queens are sitting where they are sitting for a reason.
“They’ve won games of football and they’ll be confident.
“Anyone that goes to Easter Road and puts on a performance like they did against Hibs must be taken seriously.
“We understand what’s it’s like to go to Easter Road and get a point, how hard it was, and Queens did that on Saturday.
“But we’ll go down there with confidence after winning the derby against Cowdenbeath last week, because it was a massive three points for us.”
This evening’s hosts have been in impressive form since that night in Kirkcaldy and are unbeaten since the 4-3 win at Stark’s a run that stretches to five fixtures.
Queens boss James Fowler will be looking to make it six this evening, and Murray is full of praise for the impact his counterpart has had in Dumfries.
“He has had a great start to his managerial career,” he said.
“He’s got a good group of players down there and they’ve slotted in fantastically so we’ve got to be wary of them.”
Rovers will again be without goalkeeper Kevin Cuthbert and defender Craig Barr, although Murray has been delighted to have striker Christian Nade back to his best.
Nade had been out of action after suffering an ankle injury against Queens, but he came off the bench last week to score the winner against Cowdenbeath.
“It’s great to have Christian back he’s been out for four or five weeks with the injury that he had so it’s nice to have him available,” Murray added.
“You want all your players back, it’s as simple as that.
“We’ve been missing a lot of key players and that’s my job, to pick a squad with what’s available.
“At the end of the day players are only assets to me when they are fit and it’s unfortunate when some of them are injured.
“Christian was probably disappointed he didn’t start the game last week but I felt the team that went to Tynecastle deserved to start the game.
“But he came on and had an impact, and at the end of the day that’s what you want your substitutes to do.
“Christian was there to put the ball in the back of the net and that’s what all strikers want to do.
“He’s been desperate to get involved in previous weeks but he wasn’t right he knew that himself.
“But hopefully that’s him fine now.”
