The former head of computing at Arbroath Academy is facing jail after police found a sickening bank of child and bestiality images on his computer.
Roger Moult, 64, of High Street, Montrose, appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court on Tuesday after a raid on his home that uncovered tens of thousands of images stretching back a decade.
The former churches group secretary admitted that between January 8 2005 and March 5 2014 he possessed indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children at his home address or elsewhere unknown.
He also admitted that between January 24 2012 and March 5 this year he possessed extreme pornographic images depicting adult females engaged in sexual activities withanimals. It is understood Moult’s child-abuse images ran into the tens of thousands and his activities were discovered in March when police raided his home.
Angus Council confirmed the formerdepartment head had not worked for the local authority since March 2012.
Vice-convener of children and learning Lynne Devine said any right-thinking person would be disgusted by the offences.
She said: “I think anyone would behorrified at that and it’s just awful that time and again these people are coming to light.”
Ms Devine also expressedconfidence that local authorityprocedures are in place to prevent anyone accessing indecent images or video in schools.
“I am very confident the systems are in place to prevent that,” she said.
Depute fiscal Eilidh Robertson told the court she would provide a full breakdown of the number of images Moult had in his possession and their severity when he appears for sentence next month.
Sheriff Brown deferred sentencefor reports and granted Moult bail.
He was placed on the sexoffenders register in the interim.
