The Scottish car industry continued its climb out of the abyss last month, with sales up by more than 15%.
Figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders show 36,335 new cars were sold in Scotland in March, an increase of 15.6% over the same month last year.
In Tayside, sales rose by 16%, from 2110 to 2447, while in Fife there was a 28% increase to 1872 units.
The Grampian region posted a 26% rise in sales.
A spokeman for the Scottish Motor Trade Association welcomed the news but said the industry faces an uncertain few months to see if sales hold without the scrappage scheme to prop them up.
