A technical fault that resulted in thousands of BT internet customers losing their broadband service has been repaired.
At its height, service to 20,000 homes was disrupted across much of Scotland, the north of England and Northern Ireland.
A spokesman for BT said, “Following a technical fault at an exchange in the Edinburgh area last night, which caused disruption to some broadband services, BT confirms that all services have been restored to customers.
“BT’s engineering teams worked throughout the night to resolve outstanding customer issues and to monitor the performance of the network.”
