Online orders see Domino’s take big slice of the market

A substantial rise in online orders has helped pizza delivery company Domino’s sustain its strong UK sales momentum.
Its UK-based e-commerce business grew significantly in the first half and it now accounts for more than 63% of delivered sales.
Domino’s said it expected the figure to rise in the months ahead as it continued to develop its digital presence.
The firm said it had continued to build on the strong momentum seen in the first quarter of the year, with overall UK sales increasing by 11.7% to £147.6 million in the 13 weeks to June 30.
CEO Lance Batchelor said: “Our system leads the leisure sector and, with the majority of our business coming via web and mobile platforms, we are now truly an online retailer.”
