A police car was rammed as an armed gang made a getaway with cash and jewellery stolen from a Dundee house.
The five men escaped the police pursuit through Tayside, which happened after a robbery at a Stobswell property.
It is understood that the gang stole a five-figure sum of money and jewellery from a house on Forfar Road on Wednesday at around 8pm, threatening a man with a weapon.
Police said they were last seen on the Kingsway at about 8.20pm, and that a similar vehicle was spotted on the M90 at Broxden around 9pm.
A source close to the investigation said that the police vehicle was damaged when it was rammed near Perth and the suspects were then pursued by officers.
The hunt for the gang who were wearing “dark clothing and headwear” and made their getaway in a black BMW 5 series with Irish registration plates continues.
Last week the family who live in the house told of how they had been left fearing for their safety.
One family member said: “We’ve not heard anything at the moment from the police.
“It was very scary and we are afraid.
“They were very bad people I can’t sleep anymore.”
Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen the BMW in the Dundee or Perth area shortly before the crime, or after the crime, to come forward with any information on 101 or speak to any officer.
Alternatively information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Police have also advised residents to avoid keeping large amounts of cash in their homes.
