A heavily pregnant woman avoided jail after she glassed a man, causing permanent disfigurement.
Claire Louise Mills, 24, of Granton Place, appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court having been found guilty of the assault at a trial by jury.
Sheriff Alastair told her she could have faced jail despite her baby being due in December.
He said: “Ordinarily someone who commits assault of this sort may expect to go to prison for somewhere between 12 months to three years.”
However, he said while the jury did not accept Mills had been provoked, he recognised the victim bore some of the responsibility for the incident, which took place on Castle Street on Monday.
Sheriff Brown said he had to take into account the effect a custodial sentence would have on any children.
He ordered her to do 200 hours of unpaid work to be completed within six months of the birth.
