A serial abuser who attacked women across Scotland over a 10-year period has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Alan Radcliffe was arrested by officers from Police Scotland’s Domestic Abuse Task Force after an eight-month investigation.
The 29-year-old targeted women in Perth, Dunfermline, Inverness, Edinburgh and Forth Valley.
Radcliffe was convicted at the High Court in Edinburgh last month of a string of charges including assault, rape and making threats against women victims at various locations across the country.
Chief Superintendent John Thomson said: “Radcliffe is a dangerous and manipulative man who targeted women, lying to them in order to gain their trust. Once the relationship was established he would become violent and aggressive towards them, women he supposedly loved.
“Radcliffe is now behind bars and justice has been served. There is no doubt that women were frightened of him but they spoke to police, detailing some of the horrors they suffered at his hands. I would like to thank these women for their bravery in speaking out and would like to reiterate to anyone who is suffering domestic abuse not to suffer in silence and report it.
“Domestic abuse encompasses all manner of crimes, ranging from murder and rape to simple assault and breach of the peace. This sustained abuse will not be tolerated and officers will use every available means at their disposal to ensure men such as Radcliffe are held to account for their despicable behaviour and crimes.”
“Police Scotland remains fully committed to targeting serial offenders and our proactive approach demonstrates our full commitment to reducing the number of victims.”
