Garry Kenneth’s season may be over as Brechin City’s defensive problems mount up

Brechin boss Ray McKinnon is facing a defensive injury crisis ahead of this weekend’s Angus derby with Forfar.

The Glebe gaffer was forced to reshuffle his pack during the weekend defeat to Arbroath following injuries to Johnny Brown, Ewan Moyes and Garry Kenneth.

Now, McKinnon fears that two of the three are set to miss the rest of the season.

He said: “We already had Paul McLean and Graham Hay suspended for the game and we had been without one of our best players, Alan Trouten, for weeks.

“So to then lose three defenders before half-time to injury was a real hammer blow.

“Johnny Brown took a stud to a bone on his ankle and he has been sent for an X-ray.

“We are still awaiting the results but I think he will be out for a while.

“Ewan Moyes has ruptured ligaments in his ankle and will be out for up to six weeks, while Garry Kenneth pulled his hamstring and will be missing for a minimum of four weeks.

“To be honest, the last two will probably not feature again this season as, even if they do recover on schedule from the injuries, they would still have to regain full fitness.

“We really have had a horrific time through injury and suspension.

“You look at other teams and they are fielding a settled line-up week in, week out while we have had to chop and change constantly.”
