If Elvis Presley was The King then his one and only stop in the British Isles might be counted as a royal flying visit.
The icon of American and British popular youth culture changed planes at Prestwick Airport on March 3 1960 on his way home from doing his military service in Germany.
But almost 37 years after his death in his Memphis bathroom, his spirit will live on in Fife when a commemorative park run is held in his memory as part of Sport Relief 2014.
Organised by Leven Las Vegas Running Club and St Andrews Parkrun, the event at Craigtoun Park, near St Andrews, will see all participants encouraged to pay tribute to The King by dressing, either in whole or in part, in the style of Elvis and to run, jog, walk, hop or crawl three laps around the park on Saturday March 22.
Participants should enter online at www.parkrun.org.uk/register, print off the supplied barcode and bring it along on the day.
