A Glenrothes man is facing jail after strangling the three months pregnant mother of his child when she received a Valentine’s card from another man.
Gary Telfer became enraged when Laurisa Samadi revealed she had received the card and a letter from a workmate encouraging her to get rid of him.
Telfer, 21, placed both hands around her neck and squeezed so hard and for so long she could no longer breathe.
He then screamed at her to get an abortion as she fled the house.
Telfer, of Alexander Road, admitted on February 4 at Alexander Road, he assaulted Ms Samadi, seized and pulled her by the body, pushed her to the ground, struck her head, kicked her to the head and body and seized her by the throat, all to her injury.
Sheriff Max Hendry, sitting at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, warned Telfer, who was remanded in custody, he faced jail and deferred sentence for reports.
Depute fiscal Dana Forbes said Telfer and Ms Samadi had been in a relationship for around two years.
The argument erupted when Ms Samadi revealed a work colleague had given her the letter and Valentine’s card.
Telfer put both hands on her shoulders and pushed her to ground, where she hit her head on the floor.
When Ms Samadi escaped into the hallway, Telfer dragged her back into the living room, causing her to hit her head off the walls.
