Dundee Women’s Festival hears police talk on human trafficking
ByThe Courier Reporter
Light was shed on the often hidden issue of human trafficking in Dundee last night.
Detective Sergeant Robin Veitch, of Police Scotland’s national human trafficking section, spoke to 140 people who attended the event organised by the Soroptimist International Dundee group.
DS Veitch said: “The nature of this crime is that it is hidden but like the drugs war if you go looking for it you will find it.”
The event tied in with the Dundee Women’s Festival.
Sheila McLuckie, president of the women’s group, said raising awareness of modern day slavery is a top priority for the soroptimists.
