Nearly a third of Dundee motorists are driving on dangerously under-inflated tyres, according to Michelin.
The findings come after the Dundee manufacturer staged a two-day Fill Up With Air event in the city, checking the pressure and condition of tyres and offering free maintenance and safety advice.
More than 150 cars were checked, and 31% were found to be running tyres classes as dangerously under-inflated.
A total of 51% of cars had under-inflated tyres, 8% had over-inflated tyres and five had punctures.
John Reid, factory manager at Michelin in Dundee, said: “From running these events for almost seven years around the UK, we know that, unfortunately, many UK motorists drive with under-inflated tyres.
“What people fail to realise is that under-inflated tyres waste a lot of money and harm the environment because more fuel is needed to keep the vehicle moving.
“They also wear out quicker and can, in some cases, be dangerous due to poor grip, handling and braking performance.”
