Foul! Football match had to be postponed because of dog mess on pitch

A football match had to be postponed because of irresponsible dog owners in Perth who don’t clear up after their pets.
Councillor Callum Gillies said he was “disappointed” by dog owners in Letham who let their dogs foul areas around the school and playparks.
“I am trying to get it across to these dog owners that this is ridiculous and, if they do get caught, it will cost them a £40 fine.
“A football match next to Letham Primary even had to be cancelled recently due to dog fouling.”
Perth and Kinross Council is asking people to help identify those who fail to clean up after their pet and has launched the If They Don’t Bin It Drop Them In It initiative.
In addition, increased patrols will be carried out by animal welfare officers, aided by local police officers and other agencies.
They will approach dog walkers, offer dog waste bags, give details of the campaign and, in some cases, issue fixed penalty notices.
Members of the public can contact the council’s environment service by calling 01738 476476.
