Banned driver switched off headlights before speeding through Kirkcaldy
ByGraham Gibson
A Kirkcaldy man switched off his headlights and drove at nearly double the speed limit in a pitch-black joyride.
At court on Friday, Dean Dowling, 27, of Forth Avenue, pleaded guilty to driving dangerously on October 22 last year at Victoria Road, Kirkcaldy.
Dowling admitted driving without headlamps illuminated in hours of darkness, at speeds of up to 60mph in a 30mph zone and in the presence of nearby pedestrians.
He also admitted driving at 47mph in a 30mph zone, driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance.
Sheriff James Williamson disqualified Dowling from driving and deferred sentence until next month for social work reports.
