Rush-hour traffic was disrupted in the Dura Street area of Dundee this morning when fire broke out in a block of flats in Erskine Street.
The blaze took hold in a bin recess of a close shortly after 7.30am.
The fire was inside a large wheelie bin, and caused damage to the inside of the close. The fire brigade were called and the blaze was extinguished with hose reels.
Smoke affected the rest of the building, and a spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the bin was taken to the rear of the property for the flames to be safely dealt with.
The fire crew checked the flats in the block to ensure no one was injured or at risk.
The operation delayed motorists in Dura Street and other roads in the area.
