A family-owned Fife electrical store is hoping to spark sales growth after a £30,000 refit.
KK Electrics has been operating in Fife since 1974. It turns over more than £1 million a year after having diversified from a TV and electrical equipment retailer into a home solutions business capable of carrying out kitchen and bathroom refits.
Owners Stuart and Michelle Foulkes said the willingness to adapt had helped it outlive other major retailers in the sector.
“I believe the reason many other retailers have struggled is that they failed to diversify,” Stuart said.
“The economic downturn led many consumers to put off buying big value items, but the one-time household names such as Comet didn’t react quickly enough.
“Instead, they were hit by increasing competition from supermarkets and online shopping which, along with other factors, eventually led to their demise.
“It hasn’t always been easy over the last five years but we’ve taken our cue for change from our customers and, as a result, have a loyal customer base.”
