Glamis Castle ready for summer after months of refurbishment works

Glamis Castle is preparing to open its doors for the summer season.
The five-star attraction will swing open its gates for another year on April 12 following the winter close season.
The former home of the Queen Mother will welcome eager historians and visitors after months of cleaning and refurbishment works.
Guide Pauline Cawdery said: “There is so much history in this castle that simply walking around it only scratches the surface.
“If you can give people a sense of the history of this house and relate that to the modern world then that can help people enjoy the tour. If you can understand the past, you can understand the present.”
Staff are anticipating a busy season on the back of several recent successful television period dramas and the natural historical draw of the castle.
As a result, management are looking to take on some new guides this season. Glamis will be open seven days a week, with tours starting at 10.30am and finishing at 4.30pm until November 3.
