Man remains in serious condition after fall at Arbroath cliffs
ByGraham Brown
A man who fell from Angus cliffs in an early-hours Sunday incident remains serious but stable in hospital.
The 23-year-old was winched to safety by helicopter from rocks east of Arbroath following a major turnout of emergency services around 2.40am on Sunday.
Arbroath’s all weather and inshore lifeboats were involved in the operation, along with Coastguard teams from Carnoustie, Arbroath, Montrose and Stonehaven.
RNLI crew members made their way ashore to assist in providing first line casualty care to the man prior to the arrival of helicopter Rescue 131 from RAF Boulmer in Northumberland.
The casualty was airlifted to a waiting ambulance and transferred to Ninewells Hospital,
The local man, who has not been named, is understood to have sustained multiple injuries in the plunge, which prompted a renewed safety call from Coastguards for people to be aware of clifftop dangers, particularly in darkness and inclement weather.
Police today said his condition remained serious but stable.
