Plans to erect a 50 metre-high mast in Auchtertool have been approved by councillors.
The mast, to monitor wind conditions ahead of the installation of three wind turbines, is to be constructed on land at Clentrie Farm.
The approval was granted by members of Fife Council’s central planning committee, despite seven representations against the mast being made to the local authority.
The planned turbines, for which approval has already been granted, will be almost twice the size of the test mast.
Councillor George Kay said with planning permission already granted for the turbines, approving the mast was a formality.
“We have no other alternative but to approve the application,” he said.
