Job done Dundee United fans answer chairman’s call to snap up Ibrox tickets

Dundee United have all but sold out their initial ticket allocation for the eagerly-anticipated Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers at Ibrox.

It is an incredible response from the Tannadice support as they attempt to force the SFA into increasing the number of briefs for the Tangerines.

United were told they would need to shift their 8,000-seat allocation in the Broomloan Stand by April 1 to release more tickets for the April 12 clash.

That led club chairman Stephen Thompson who became emboiled in an angry row over the SFA’s handling of the arrangements to appeal to supporters to send a clear message by snapping up their share.

At the close of business on Tuesday, 7,900 had been snapped up meaning United fans will have sold out their initial share long before tickets go on general sale on Friday.
