100mph Dundee driver tells court he was fleeing from car full of teenagers

A man drove at 100mph along a 40mph stretch of East Dock Street because he was “scared for his life”, Dundee Sheriff Court has heard.
Jamie Ramsay, 33, of the Laurels, Dundee, admitted the offence, which was committed on April 11, after evidence was heard before Sheriff Alastair Brown.
Solicitor Ross Bennett said Ramsay “panicked and floored it” because a group of teenagers were pointing at him from another car and challenging him to fight.
Ramsay hit a ton in his Subaru Impreza on East Dock Street and was spotted by police with laser speed guns.
They chased him to the Stannergate roundabout and he stopped in Craigie Drive.
Sheriff Alastair Brown fined Ramsay £400 and imposed six penalty points on his licence.
Ramsay was acquitted on a charge of dangerous driving.
