Entertainment venues in Angus face price hikes for some types of licensed events.
Under current practice, organisations with more than one venue can hold multiple events under one £144 licence but Angus Council has reviewed its position and councillors will be asked to approve a report from head of legal and democratic services Shona Hunter.
She recommends that organisations arranging public entertainment at separate venues will require a licence for all premises at which the entertainment takes place.
Ms Hunter states: “It has been the practice of the council to allow organisations to apply for one licence, which can cover separate venues, provided that the entertainment within the separate venues takes place within a six-week period.
“In effect, this means that travelling fairs, circuses etc can operate from different venues within the burghs under one licence, provided that the events are all completed within a six-week period.
“As a result, the council only receives one fee for an event which can take place at six different venues over six weeks.”
The council will continue to charge charities a “considerably reduced” fee of £34 and small, free-to-enter public events organised by charities, youth and community groups do not require licences.
The civic licensing committee meets at the Town and County Hall, Forfar, on Thursday at 10am.
