Property sales in Perthshire have leapt 15% in the last year, figures have revealed.
The first quarter of 2014 has resulted in “very promising” statistics for house sales, with local estate agents recording impressive results.
Staff at the Perthshire Solicitors Property Centre (PSPC) announced sales of more than £30 million. Since the turn of the year it has sold a total of 184 properties, achieving an average price of £167,027.
These figures have been described as a “strong” improvement on the first quarter of 2013. In comparison, 160 properties changed hands at a combined value of around £24m and the average home sold for just over £150,000.
PSPC manager Anne Begg said: “We are delighted to see, in black and white, the very promising sales statistics from the first quarter of the year.
“They show that the market has most definitely turned a corner, with significant sales increases and, crucially, strong evidence that all property types are performing well.
Meanwhile, first-time buyers are being given a boost by a national scheme which provides people with up to 20% of the purchase price. Help to Buy has proven popular in Perthshire and local house-building firm Stephen is calling for it to be extended.
Marketing manager Tom Buchanan said they had seen “significant” uptake of the scheme.
