Brechin could see a High Street flume ride in place as part of this year’s Harley-Davidson celebration.
Community group BRAVO Brechin have planned a 200-metre slide that could be used by thousands of visitors to the popular July 12 event.
And the group’s spokesman, Bill Sturrock, said a committee had already worked out most of the particulars for the project.
“We’re in the process of getting our funding put together,” he said.
“We’ve had a quote for the construction of it about £3,000 all-in. £3,500 tops.”
Mr Sturrock said the committee hopes for health and safety approval from the council.
The group is keen to find the flume nearby, and also wants it to be re-usable.
“We’ve spoken to a couple of local companies, and Montrose Rope and Sail would be more than capable of assembling the materials,” said Mr Sturrock.
“We’re going to use small, rubber dinghies that people can sit in, so it’s safer. The base material of the slide would be a PVC material, and on top of that a membrane sheet, three or four layers thick.
“The target for the event is July 12, which is the Harley-Davidson festival in the town.
“There’s a pub at the bottom of the road, and we’d try to get a band playing the Dambusters theme to accompany those on their way down.”
