British used car sales revved up to their highest level since 2008 last year.
A total of 6.8 million vehicles changed hands last year, a 0.9% uplift on the figure achieved in 2012.
Sales of cars more than nine years old grew by 6% during the year but younger models suffered on the forecourts, seeing an average 4.4% sales dip.
Keith Ambrose of Experian Automotive said: “The 2013 figures reveal that car buyers are increasingly turning to older used car models.
“However, the older a car is, the longer its history will be and it’s imperative that car buyers safeguard themselves by getting a full history check.”
