Anthony Lorimer, 31, of Kemnay Gardens, admitted producing cannabis at his home on September 1.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard police officers had attended at Lorimer’s home address in the early hours of the morning in relation to another matter.
Depute fiscal Eilidh Robertson said: “Whilst they were in the property they could see there was a cannabis cultivation within a bedroom. There were five plants. There was other equipment.”
Ms Robertson said the potential value could have been around £2,000. Lorimer’s solicitor Lesley Beats said he was a first-time offender.
Sheriff Tom Hughes deferred sentence to May 7 and granted forfeiture of all the drugs paraphernalia.
