A member of the public raised the alarm after spotting the pensioner in Lunan Water in Friockheim just before 7am on Thursday. The woman’s identity has not been released by police, however she is believed to be aged 70 and from the Angus area. Scottish Ambulance Service attended but she could not be saved by paramedics and died at the scene. Police are now making inquiries into the sudden death and could be seen investigating the area at the junction of Lunan Street and Guthrie Crescent. A spokesman for the Tayside Division of Police Scotland said there were no suspicious circumstances.
