A cat died after it sustained horrific injuries when it was thrown from a moving car in Dundee’s Clepington Road.
The shocking event was witnessed by Anne Steele, who had been travelling in the car behind and held the cat in her arms as it died.
She has been left traumatised by the incident, which took place at around 9pm on Monday, and has reported the matter to the police.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident Anne also contacted her friend Linda Quinn, who is the administrator of Facebook page Missing Pets in Dundee and Angus.
News of the incident was met with shock and horror online and Linda said there have been over 7,500 views of her post. She has since taken the cat’s body to a vet, in the hope of tracing its owner but it was not microchipped.
Graeme Buchan, of Blackness Vets in Brook Street said they will keep the young female cat in the surgery for around a week in case the owner comes forward, and if not the body will be cremated.
The cat is described as a black semi-long haired female with white bib and white paws.
