Pair admit drunken theft of horse sculpture from Fife garden
ByThe Courier Reporter
Two men who stole a large horse sculpture from a garden after a drunken night out have been ordered to carry out unpaid work.
Kevin Keith, 22, of Carlyle Crescent in Buckhaven, and Robert Morrison, 35, of Albany Crescent, Freuchie, admitted carrying out the theft from the premises, on Freuchie High Street, between December 20 2013 and December 23 2013.
Cupar Sheriff Court heard the sculpture was “the size of a Shetland pony” and had been purchased in 1998 for £1,500.
The procurator fiscal said: “The accused had been on a night out and had consumed a large volume of alcohol before deciding to steal the sculpture and place it in a van.”
The sculpture was later recovered undamaged.
Both men represented themselves in court and said they regretted their actions.
Sheriff Brian Cameron gave Keith a 50-hour community payback order and Morrison a 60-hour one because of his previous dishonesty convictions.
