An eyewear shop’s “Shed Shades” are proving a hit with Dundee United supporters ahead of next month’s Scottish Cup final against St Johnstone.
Spex Pistols in Dundee’s owner Richard Cook ordered a batch of the tangerine and black sunglasses and was amazed when they were snapped up almost straight away by eager fans.
Richard has had to order extra supplies from Belgium after buying up all of the existing UK stock in United’s colours.
He said: “We completely sold out the first three boxes in a matter of hours We already have orders for hundreds more backed up. I’m really surprised at how popular they’ve been.”
While Dundee United fans have been beating a path to his door, Richard is keen to point out supporters of their cup rivals are more than welcome too.
He said: “We’re fans of football in the shop and not just Dundee United. We have blue and white ones coming in and we’ve taken orders in double figures for St Johnstone specs.”
