Dundee United full-back Andy Robertson has been named PFA Scotland young player of the year.
Celtic’s Kris Commons picked up the player of the year award at the dinner in Glasgow. Robertson beat off Tannadice team-mates Stuart Armstrong and Ryan Gauld as well as 27-goal St Johnstone striker Stevie May to win the award.
The 20-year-old defender moved from Queen’s Park to United last summer and has pinned down a regular starting berth and won his first Scotland cap in the friendly against Poland in March.
He said: “It has been a really successful season but this award probably means the most to me, because the players have voted for me.”
Commons finished ahead of Hoops team-mates Fraser Forster and Virgil van Dijk and Kilmarnock striker Kris Boyd.
Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes was named manager of the year.
Cowdenbeath’s Kane Hemmings took the Championship award while Rangers’ Lee Wallace was voted best player in League One and Peterhead’s Rory McAllister claimed the League Two award.
Aberdeen’s Jonny Hayes won the goal of the season award for the strike against Celtic in February.
