Tommy Wright says possibility of Europe is delaying St Johnstone’s pre-season plans

The possibility of European football for the third year in succession is delaying St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright confirming his plans for pre-season.
But the Perth boss admitted, it’s the sort of problem he isn’t complaining about.
Should Saints win the Scottish Cup they will have second round Europa League qualifiers on July 17 and July 24, meaning Wright has to have a plan A and a plan B in mind.
“I’ve got a couple of games pencilled in,” he said.
“But if we get into Europe they’ll have to be cancelled. We know what time we’ll come back and we’ll work off the same number of days as we did last summer.
“I’d rather give the boys three or four days extra rest than bring them back too early. They’ll do their programmes on their own over the summer and come back fit.
“Last year we only had two games going into Europe and we were OK. That would be a nice problem to have again.”
